September is here and so is the hot weather. The forecast for the next week is in the lower 90′s and then a cooling trend. The Pale olives are still coming off strong during the afternoon and evenings and seem to be the best chance for dry fly action. We have been using a #18 epoxyback sowbug and a #20 psuedo nymph for the dropper in the shallow runs. A #22 pale olive parachute has been the ticket for the dry in the late afternoon behind a #18 CDC black caddis. The black caddis seem to be winding down but there is some sporadic activity in the evenings. The afternoon hopper fishing has also been very good. From 1 o’clock to 4 o’clock seems to be the time to tie on a hopper. When it gets hot, the hoppers really get active and if the wind blows, the feed is on. pg
